DORIS – Applied Systems
With DORIS, we give you a system that’s easy to learn, easy to afford, with zero investment in IT staff or resources. Access your data, hosted on our server, from just about anywhere. We handle the details of maintaining, protecting and securing your data for you by performing database backups, system updates, daily downloads and all the other chores that go into running a data center.

DORIS is a very comprehensive system, especially for those who are new to the insurance industry. It is extremely user friendly, their customer service team is very attentive, and the functionality of the product exceeded our expectations.

Doris was a Great product until Applied purchased them. Since that time capabilities have decreased and cost have gone through the roof. Doris has an excellent diary system and the ability to search the files is great, scanning was a pain and the ability to go direct to company websites went away.

I agree with Mr. Quickel. DORIS was a great product and a lot of bang for the buck before Applied purchased them!
In my opinion, they are only doing what is necessary to keep the system alive, and they continue to raise prices to try to coerce DORIS users to try to go to an original Applied product.
If you were on DORIS before and after the transition, you certainly will know what I mean.

We have been on TAM for a very long time and recently we did switch over to DORIS. TAM is a real powerhouse and works very well for the agency that does everything in house. By this I mean agency bill as well as direct billing for your customers. I have long felt that TAM is really designed for Commercial Insurance although it does well for Personal Insurance needs but really has more features than you will ever need. To be honest with you it has been a real pain in the BUT to switch to DORIS. Actually, staff in my office are outwardly complaining to me but we are really just starting to use it exclusively and nobody likes change. If you are not needing to convert any customers from one system to another and you write mostly personal and less commercial insurance DORIS should be a nice fit. It is fairly easy to use and they train the heck out of you. Also, Applied is a very large company who has great customer service and can guide you through any trouble you may have. The transfer process is what is getting us; it has been a real nightmare and the best way to describe it is extremely tedious and difficult. We have had problems deleting old policies, companies, and staff that we haven’t worked with in up to 20 years! You have to delete them one by one as DORIS has no convenient way to delete these entries by selecting all at once. If you are just starting out and not transferring your old database you shouldn’t have these kinds of issues. Other than that it is pretty easy to use and has a very simple interface that I really enjoy.
