We have been long time users of Instar and before it was purchased enjoyed some of the best customer service and support in the industry. That did slip when Vertafore aquired Instar but has been improving a great deal recently. At this time Vertafore’s Support site does not contain a FAQ or a Troubleshooting guide for Instar but if you submit a case they have been quick to respond.
We like the management software and use it in conjunction with Apres Etfile through our ASP- Ajasent. The product was priced right for our agency size and we have multiple locations in a very rural area. Instar allows us to set up multiple agency locations quite easily and track thru our accounting.
Vertafore has been updating Instar and we have seen little issues with those updates.

I had a TERRIBLE experience with this company. All SALES and NO SUPPORT. Training was insufficient – did not cover many important things like carrier setup, accounting, etc. If you need an agency management system, you owe it to yourself to get another system!
